Be sure to follow the schedule at the bottom of the post to check out all the spring tours. Also, there is an awesome hayneedle.com giveaway at the bottom of this post.  I love blog hopping and you will not be disappointed by these talented ladies.

Spring officially starts in a week. Considering it snowed last week, I am beyond excited for it to start warming up! I always get excited to decorate for Spring. It means that we are finally getting past the cold and ready to start fresh. Don’t get me wrong, I love having all four seasons in Utah. It is so fun to experience each new season.

One of my favorite spots to decorate is my World Market Everett Table. Easter and Spring are when I venture out and add some color around the house. I picked up this egg garland and grass bunnies at Michael’s. The wreath was a Home Goods find. My husband refers to this as the hallway of shiplap. I just love the character that shiplap gives our entry.

I haven’t shown much of this front room, right off the entry. It has been a work in progress. We have our piano and a sofa in here. I am still loving this DIY framed botanical gallery to go above the sofa. The perfect rug for this room is still out there. I just need to find it and bring it home.

My living room, dining room, and kitchen are all open to each other. I love open concept spaces. It just feels like there is more room. I can also be a part of all the action going on in the other areas while cooking in the kitchen.

This adorable mad hatter hat, egg garland, and big bunny (on the coffee table) are from Michael’s.

This rolling pin was actually at the Target Dollar Spot for Valentine’s Day. I thought it carried over to Easter perfectly too.  My kids just love turning on this marquee bunny from Michael’s. The poor mini chicks have also taken quite the beating from my little ones. I don’t know if they will survive another Eater around here. 🙂

Ok, let me tell you about the best shopping experience ever, hayneedle.com. It is like Home Goods, T.J. Maxx, and Target all combined but better! Way cuter selection and the prices are AMAZING! The best part is that I get to do all my shopping while wearing my pajamas in bed. I don’t have to drag my kids in and out of a million stores to find one thing I am looking for. I had the hardest time trying to decide what I wanted to order for this spring tour. There may, or may not, be a whole cart full items still waiting to be purchased. 🙂 Hayneedle was so kind to send me this duvet set and bench for my master bedroom spring refresh. I have been searching for the perfect duvet for this bedroom since we moved in. I am in love with the look and feel of this duvet. It is like sleeping in luxury hotel bedding. Since the name is Luxury Hotel Microfiber Set, totally makes sense now!  Mr. Whitelane even thinks it feels super comfy.

A bench is a necessity in our bedroom. Mr. Whitelane wakes up way earlier than me. Every time he puts on his shoes, he sits on the end of the bed. I am a light sleeper and I would always wake up. Not anymore. This bench has saved me many minutes of sleep. I love the black metal base that ties into our barn door. Best of all, it was so easy to assemble and came right to my front door. It has also withstood the kid superhero test. Many jumps later, still going strong. It was my first time ordering with hayneedle.com and I am definitely hooked! Hayneedle is also giving away a $250 shopping spree to one of you! Click HERE to enter your email and follow @hayneedle on Instagram. Contest runs until March 20th. Good luck!

Don’t worry, the tour doesn’t stop here. Go check out these other awesome ladies in the schedule below. We have loved putting the Joyful Spring Home Tour together. It has been such fun showing you our spring decor and working with hayneedle.com. Tomorrow is the final day of the tour. So, don’t miss out! Shiplap Entry

Today is one of those days. I woke up all night long. I finally woke up for the day at 5 a.m (but I layed there until my kids came busting through the bedroom door). I ran around all day just trying to keep up with life. Mr. Whitelane was out of town. I finally sit down to share this blog post, and my kids get out of bed every 5 minutes. My eyes are burning, my feet are freezing (winter is coming), and Chic-Fil-A nuggets are not very filling. 🙂 So, as I sit here stuffing popcorn in my face, I am so ready to share our entry and woodwork.20160805_072504

When we started getting in the final stages of our house, the project list started. I wanted to get a few things done right away. Diederich Construction finished the basement in our townhouse. I knew I wanted to use Diederich Construction for our entry, crown molding, and window casing too. Troy does amazing finish work.20160805_120946

I had a hard time deciding what kind of wood work I wanted for the entry. I thought about board and batten, picture frame molding, and shiplap. I love all three options. I decided to go with shiplap wrapped around all the walls of the entry. I thought it would add the most character without being overwhelming. I also figured it would be good to go ahead and case the front room opening, shiplap above the fireplace, and put crown molding around the living room. While Troy had his equipment on site, we might as well do as much as we can. Painters also had to come. So, we wanted to get as much wood work done, making it easy to all be painted at once. Our priority was the main floor. I still have a lot more wood work I want to have done in this house. However, this turned out really great, for now. 🙂

I am kind of obssesed with the view out of our back windows and deck. It is a huge open green field and to the left (not pictured) is the lake and mountiains, right out of the kitchen sink window.

We had this done right after we closed. The first few weeks were a still a construction zone in this house. I am so happy with how it turned out. I am glad we knocked out a few projects at the beginning. Be sure to check back in a few weeks to see these spaces deorated for Christmas.

Antique Shutter Love

And there she was just looking at me. That little shutter nestled between two others. I had been walking the antique store trying to find something good. I didn’t know I needed this, but she did. I picked her up and took her to front; to find out how much. $5 was a steal for this old shutter so I loaded it up and brought it home.

I couldn’t just leave the natural wood. I know it is beautiful but it just didn’t work for the space I wanted to incorporate it too. So go check out my youtube video on spray paint to see my method of madness to spray painting. I used Kilz primer first and then my Krylon spray paint. I chose the color sea foam and loved how it turned out.

I knew I needed some kind of gallery wall at my entry. I wanted this shutter to be a part of that. I went to Ikea and found a bunch of white frames. I got home and played with the layout until I liked the look. Here is an easy tip. Use push pins to initially hang your frames for your gallery wall. It will hold light weight frames well enough to get an idea of how it is going to look. After you have the placement down you can use a real nail. Honestly, I still leave the push pins to hold the picture if it isn’t heavy. There was this really weird shaped frame that fit great into my gallery from Ikea. The only problem was finding a long rectangle shape picture to fit into it. All the pictures would be expensive to print that size. I wanted to use this frame because the shape just fit perfectly on my gallery wall. So I got out some left over fabric from upholstering my piano bench. I put into the frame and cut off the excess. Perfect! I can’t believe I didn’t think of it sooner. Easy cheap solution for those odd size frames.

I also found a cute vintage looking key hanger/holder at Hobby Lobby. I thought this would fit in well with my gallery wall. I brought it home and gave it the same paint job as the shutter. I love how it all came together. I’m not sure if I will be using this gallery wall in the new house but it sure worked great for our townhouse. Also, this cute hanging lantern is from amazon. I got some similar ones from the Oakwood Homes design center that I can’t wait to see go up at our new house.

You never know what you will come home with from an antique shop…..
