Gold And White Kitchen

Today is the day I finally get to show you some updates we did to our kitchen. We have lived in this house for about nine months and we are constantly still making things feel like our style. If that makes any sense? Mr. Whitelane and I are always changing things and doing projects to make this home feel like it fits our family. That is part of the fun of buying a pre-existing house. The kitchen was one of the first projects we did. It went from dark to light and bright. Here is a look at the before from when we first bought the house.

As we have lived in the home I feel like we got a better idea of what we really wanted. The kitchen is where we spend the majority of our time as a family. We made a lot of changes as soon as we moved in. You can see those here. I decided it was time to open things up and make some more changes. I wanted to give the kitchen a whole new look but not spend a lot of money. That is where Joss & Main comes in to save the day.

Have you done shopping on Joss & Main yet? If not, you are missing a whole world of savvy steals and markdowns on designer products. I am amazed at how I was able to change everything from lighting to barstools on a budget in a one-stop shop. The biggest bonus was that it all got delivered to my front door. I also shopped from home in my PJ’s. 🙂

I chose these three Kayden Cone Pendants for over the island because they feel a lot lighter than my previous pendants. They make a definite statement without being too heavy and taking away from the overall design. The Heriberto Chandelier was the perfect compliment to the pendants. The shades are actually a frosted glass that pairs with the brass so well. This space feels so much lighter and airy with the new chandelier.

I have wanted these rattan coastal looking bar stools for a very long time. However, they are typically not affordable, especially if you need more than one. 😉 I was thrilled when I found these Campbellton stools for a killer price. They look identical to some of the much more expensive options I have seen. There were celebratory moments galore because of all the great pieces I was able to get within my budget.

I also had to get a new runner that fit with my new changes. I am a neutral loving girl at heart. I have tried out many different options for this space but I always come back to my neutrals. This rug is so great because it has a rubber backing to help keep it in place. This Tillia marble cheeseboard is a must-have for countertops. The wood and marble together make such a beautiful statement. I filled in the rest of the counters with these awesome white canisters. They come in two sizes and I went with the ten-inch size. I even removed the lid to use one as a utensil holder. Finally, I found this wood vase set. I am obsessed with these vases. They can be used in so many applications for styling. A great staple to have around for any room.

I am so happy with how I was able to give me kitchen a completely new look. It really feels so much more open and airy. I am loving all the deals I found on Joss & Main. Designer pieces for any budget and any room. I also have another big update we are working on with this house. I will share it all soon. Pantry Makeover

I never thought I would have a cute organized pantry. There are just so many other rooms that need attention in plain sight. At least with the pantry, I can shut the door and no one else can see the mess. That all changed one day, when I got a wild hair and some leftover decals. Warning, graphic before photo below. 😉

I used these watercolor polka dots in my daughter’s room. I still had an entire sheet of dots left after doing her wall. After looking in my pantry and the all the clutter, I decided it was time to make it cute. I already had everything I needed except some bins to organize.

After a quick trip to IKEA to get some bins for everything, I got busy cleaning up. I went through to declutter things that had been on the top shelf and stuffed in the pantry for a while. It was amazing all the things I didn’t really need or even know I had. 🙂 After I had everything organized into bins, I stuck some labels on them.  Next, I put up the polka dots. As I have mentioned before, the decals are such an easy quick way to add character to any room. They go on and peel off just like a sticker.

Wow! Some organizing, bins, and wall decals made such a huge difference. I couldn’t stop there though. That boob light was killing my vibe. I found an inexpensive pendant to complete this cute little pantry makeover. The black star pendant really pops against the polka dot walls in this intimate space. I even added a few LED pucks for extra lighting between shelving.

Is it acceptable to hide in here and eat chocolate after every meal? Don’t mind if I do. Some girls have a she shed. I have a pantry. 🙂 Having a cute pantry is a lot easier than you think. It was completely worth the few hours of organizing. I wish I would have done it sooner.

Simple Caprese Salad Recipe

The following post contains affiliate links. Read my full disclosure here.

I am on a caprese salad kick lately. I just love how fresh and easy it is to make. There are so many variations of this recipe. You can really get as creative as you want. Whatever flavor and toppings you like can turn this into a custom favorite.

Tomatoes are so good during the summer. Especially if you have a garden or grow your own. I have a black thumb but I love when my neighbors and friends share their fresh tomatoes. This salad pairs perfectly with any dinner (summer or not).

The two secret ingredients that I have found to make this salad the easiest are pictured below. They really make this salad look like a gourmet masterpiece with minimal effort. Definitely my kind of cooking. The balsamic glaze is a perfect balance of savory and sweet. The easy to use squeeze bottle allows the drizzle to come out just right. Let’s be honest, chopping fresh basil is the worst. At least for me. Those leaves never cooperate and then I have big chunks and small bits. My hands smell like basil for the rest of the day. Not anymore. This Gourmet Garden lightly dried fresh basil is amazing. It stays fresh up to four weeks after you open the package. It is all finely chopped and ready to sprinkle over your salad.

This is my go-to salad recipe lately and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. I added chopped macadamia nuts in the salad below. I love the added crunch and flavor it brings. However, pine nuts and other nuts would also be so good. The sky is the limit when it comes to toppings for this salad.

Recipe:

1 Large tomato

sliced mozzarella or pearls

Gourmet Garden Chopped Basil

Creamy Balsalmic Glaze

Olive Oil

Chopped Nuts of choice

Slice a large tomato on a plate and spread around. Slice mozzarella and layer on top of tomatoes. You can also just add mozzarella pearls. Next, sprinkle on chopped basil. Now drizzle your balsamic glaze and olive oil. Top the salad with your favorite chopped nuts and salt and pepper to taste. Simple and delicious!

Kitchen Update: Bar Stool Edition

The following post contains affiliate links and is sponsored by LumiSource. Read my full disclosure here.

I am so excited to have bar stools. Not just any barstools but LumiSource Fuji Gold Metal barstools. I will be honest, we hardly ever sit at the dining table. With three kids, you can usually find most of our meals eaten at the island on barstools. It has been a little rough without stools during the remodel. At last, the wait is over and these were so worth it all!

I wanted a bar stool that would be durable for kids but still functional and stylish. Not to mention they need to be affordable. My search led me straight to LumiSource. They have so many amazing options to choose from. Usually, when I find something I really like it is out of my price range. What can I say? I have expensive taste. 🙂 I am so glad the Fuji Gold Metal Counter stool was at such a good price point. Look how gorgeous they are!

The gold metal base was exactly what I wanted for this kitchen. The modern lines create a clean and stylish finish. They are just the right amount of style without being too busy. Since there are four across the island, I wanted something that wouldn’t stick out too much. The lower back is great for my kids. It is just enough support so they don’t fall off. Also, the faux leather seat is a life saver. After dinner, my kids tend to have more food on the chair than what got put in their mouth. The faux leather wipes down so easy and makes my job effortless.

White and gold is really a match made in heaven. You cant go wrong with these beauties. These bar stools met all the checkpoints. That is a rare occurrence these days in the design vertical. They definitely finished off the kitchen and created a great functional spot for us to gather. Dinner is finally back to normal around here since we have bar stools again. The best part is that LumiSource just expanded the Fuji Collection. That is right friends! This fabulous design now comes in more colors and styles.

The new white metal Fuji with a navy seat has me all heart eyes. It was a tough decision narrowing down a color. I am telling you. LumiSource has so many great pieces. Their unique contemporary flair on furniture and decor has made them my new go-to for so many projects. I am excited to see this kitchen complete and ready to move on to the next room that needs updates. 🙂

Kitchen Refresh With Bed Bath & Beyond

The following post is Sponsored by Bed Bath & Beyond and all of the product and product links (partner link) mentioned in this post are provided by Bed Bath & Beyond. Read my full disclosure here.

I am so excited to partner with Bed Bath & Beyond to bring you this kitchen refresh. They make refreshing your space easy and fun with their simple return policy and free shipping over $29. Bed Bath & Beyond almost always has a coupon for 20% off too. You know I love a good deal and using coupons.

When we moved into this house there were so many rooms to decorate. It can get really overwhelming fast. I felt like I just threw stuff in a room to look finished without really taking time to decorate. The kitchen was one of those rooms. I used items from our old kitchen and random things I found along the way. The truth is that the kitchen is where we spend most of our time. The space is open to the living and dining room. So, I knew that this kitchen needed a little facelift. It is one of the first things you see right after you walk into our home.

The barstools we had in here are over five years old. Three kids had taken a toll on them and it was time for something new. Bed Bath & Beyond has a great selection of furniture online. I started looking for barstools on their website and found the perfect ones. Look at these gorgeous beauties. (partner link) Baxton Studio Justin Bar Stool in Brown. They fit the kitchen and style I wanted so much better than my previous barstools. I love how they pop against my white kitchen. I know what you’re thinking. Bed Bath & Beyond has furniture? YES! I usually shop in-store for my essentials like mops, curtain rods, kitchen utensils, and bedding. However, the in-store and online shopping experience make Bed Bath & Beyond an unexpected place to find unique products like furniture and home decor too. I was just as surprised to find that they even carry the Magnolia Home line by Joanna Gaines.

That is right people. All the cute rugs, pillows, and throws from Magnolia Home are online at Bed Bath & Beyond. That is where I found this cute runner for the kitchen. (partner link) Magnolia Home by Joanna Gaines Tristan Medallion Runner. The Ivory and smoky hues of this vintage looking rug is perfection. It blends so well with the cabinets and barstools. Just the right amount of character for this little area. I wanted something soft and subtle to go right in front of the sink. This rug hit all the right needs for this space. This (partner link) Fouta Kitchen Towel in Blue was the icing on the cake to complement this rug. The main reason I got a farm sink is to hang cute hand towels like this over it. The fringe detail is so amazing. The price is even more amazing!

Can we talk about gold? It is kind of my obsession for pops of color against my white kitchen. I am dying over all the cute gold kitchen decor Bed Bath and Beyond has. Look at this (partner link) Fifth Avenue 3-Piece Glass Canister Set with Goldtone Lids. I have searched all over to find gold kitchen decor and now the search is over. This (partner link) Fitz and Floyd® Daphne Pedestal Cake Plate with Dome in Gold is seriously the most adorable stand I have ever seen. The matching (partner link) Honeycomb Hurricane was a must. I can never have enough gold accents to fill my kitchen counters. I have to say that this (partner link) Mikasa® Serenity Gold Bowl could be my favorite though. The sleek gold trim across the top makes it look so classy. I really can not get over all the fabulous selection of gold Bed Bath & Beyond has. My little girl loves this (partner link) Danya B.Tube Hinged Vase in gold. It is like a beautiful science experiment that holds flowers. I have gotten so many compliments on this vase. You really need one in your kitchen too!

It can’t be all gold in my kitchen. 🙂 I brought in some warmth with these (partner link) Kate and Laurel Hanneli Nesting trays and a few cutting boards. The gold and wood mixed were just the right combination to put into this kitchen refresh. These trays are such a fun place to display my items or leave it layered as is. I love changing out small nick nacks from the grocery store. This is going to be the perfect little tray to do that. I can never have enough cutting boards to display either. The (partner link)Creative Home Taj Elite Marble Cutting Board layered with the Artisanal Kitchen Supply Acacia and Marble Cheese Board makes me happy. They look exactly how I was envisioning leaning against the backsplash. It makes them even easier to use when you’re cooking. Something that is useful and can be decor is a win in my design book.

No kitchen can be complete without flowers and a candle. I love to light a candle at the end of each night after cleaning up dinner. Especially when it’s a (partner link) WoodWick® Fireside candle. The wooden wick is such a unique feature. Something about a clean kitchen and a yummy smelling candle to end the night just sets the tone for bed. Aren’t these (partner link) Nearly Natural Hydrangeas beautiful? I bet you can’t even tell they aren’t real. They are faux but they look incredibly realistic. Which is perfect for me because I am a plant and flower killer. No matter how hard I try, I can not keep them alive. This little gem will be sitting pretty on my counter for a long time.

As you can see, Bed Bath & Beyond is a great destination for decorating or upgrading any space in your home. I was pleasantly surprised to see all the wonderful selection of furniture and decor they had online. They really do have everything you need to furnish your new space. My kitchen refresh was a huge success thanks to Bed Bath & Beyond. The kitchen finally feels like a curated room we can gather in as a family and not a thrown together mess. I am excited to get cooking more meals in my refreshed kitchen.
