Kitchen Update: Bar Stool Edition

I am so excited to have bar stools. Not just any barstools but LumiSource Fuji Gold Metal barstools. I will be honest, we hardly ever sit at the dining table. With three kids, you can usually find most of our meals eaten at the island on barstools. It has been a little rough without stools during the remodel. At last, the wait is over and these were so worth it all!

I wanted a bar stool that would be durable for kids but still functional and stylish. Not to mention they need to be affordable. My search led me straight to LumiSource. I have expensive taste. 🙂 I am so glad the Fuji Gold Metal Counter stool was at such a good price point. Look how gorgeous they are!

The gold metal base was exactly what I wanted for this kitchen. The modern lines create a clean and stylish finish. They are just the right amount of style without being too busy. Since there are four across the island, I wanted something that wouldn’t stick out too much. The lower back is great for my kids. It is just enough support so they don’t fall off. Also, the faux leather seat is a life saver. After dinner, my kids tend to have more food on the chair than what got put in their mouth. The faux leather wipes down so easy and makes my job effortless.

White and gold is really a match made in heaven. You cant go wrong with these beauties. These bar stools met all the checkpoints. That is a rare occurrence these days in the design vertical. They definitely finished off the kitchen and created a great functional spot for us to gather. Dinner is finally back to normal around here since we have bar stools again. When we moved into this house there were so many rooms to decorate. It can get really overwhelming fast. I felt like I just threw stuff in a room to look finished without really taking time to decorate. The kitchen was one of those rooms. I used items from our old kitchen and random things I found along the way. The truth is that the kitchen is where we spend most of our time. The space is open to the living and dining room. So, I knew that this kitchen needed a little facelift. It is one of the first things you see right after you walk into our home.

The barstools we had in here are over five years old. Three kids had taken a toll on them and it was time for something new. Bed Bath & Beyond has a great selection of furniture online. I usually shop in-store for my essentials like mops, curtain rods, kitchen utensils, and bedding. However, the in-store and online shopping experience make Bed Bath & Beyond an unexpected place to find unique products like furniture and home decor too. I was just as surprised to find that they even carry the Magnolia Home line by Joanna Gaines.

Just the right amount of character for this little area. I wanted something soft and subtle to go right in front of the sink. This rug hit all the right needs for this space. This (partner link) Fouta Kitchen Towel in Blue was the icing on the cake to complement this rug. The main reason I got a farm sink is to hang cute hand towels like this over it. The fringe detail is so amazing. The price is even more amazing!

Can we talk about gold? It is kind of my obsession for pops of color against my white kitchen. I am dying over all the cute gold kitchen decor Bed Bath and Beyond has. You really need one in your kitchen too!

It can’t be all gold in my kitchen. 🙂 I brought in some warmth with these (partner link) Kate and Laurel Hanneli Nesting trays and a few cutting boards. The gold and wood mixed were just the right combination to put into this kitchen refresh. These trays are such a fun place to display my items or leave it layered as is. I love changing out small nick nacks from the grocery store. This is going to be the perfect little tray to do that. I can never have enough cutting boards to display either. No kitchen can be complete without flowers and a candle. I love to light a candle at the end of each night after cleaning up dinner. Especially when it’s a (partner link) WoodWick® Fireside candle. Bar Stools

I have perfectly good barstools. There are four of them from IKEA. So in the new house, our island seats six. What does that mean!? Do I buy two more of the same white IKEA chairs I already have? Do I buy six new chairs, that are totally different? I haven’t decided what I will do yet. Two of the four white IKEA chairs, that I already have, are very well loved and used. In the meantime of trying to decide what I should do; I have picked out a few of my favorites. Just in case I need to buy all new barstools 😉 .

I am really loving the natural light wood furniture lately. These World Market French Bistro Barstools are just perfect. They still have the “X” back, which will match well with my dining room chairs. My dining room chairs are the same as the white IKEA barstools I have. I don’t want to buy all new dining room chairs too. I will definitely be keeping those six chairs, so the barstools need to coordinate. These would blend well and break up some of the white in the kitchen.

I thought about doing the Natural Linen Paige Backless Barstool from World Market too. Lets be honest, fabric chairs don’t work with my kids. I need something that won’t absorb food and wipes up easily. We mostly sit at the bar and not the dining room table. I don’t know why but we just always congregate there. I have to wipe up and mop the floor under my little one’s chairs after every meal. So I quickly threw this chair out of the options. It sure is beautiful but just not the right fit for our family.

Target always has such cute stuff. I came across a chair similar to the French Bistro barstools from World Market. They are called the French Country X-Back Barstool. A little bit cheaper and still really cute. Again they would still blend well with the dining room chairs. This is important since they will be all together in one open space. They even go on sale occasionally. I really am leaning toward these as a front runner.

This last one is a bit of a wild card for me. It is the Adjustable Round Wood and Metal Stool from World Market. Can you tell I love World Market? I thought that it might be nice to tuck these away under the countertop. they have no backs so they won’t seem busy. They are more industrial than I usually tend to like. Definitely easy to clean with the wood and metal. I don’t really have dark metal anywhere else in the house. A fun option to think about none the less.

I still have some time to think over all the bar stool options. The new house is all sheet rocked! I am beyond excited to see the progress coming along. I will be doing another house updated soon to show you how it is going.
