Master Bathroom Grout

I have been running around like a crazy person. There is so much going on at the new house, I can’t keep up. It would be fine if it was all right, but it has not been. Every day something new is installed and there seems to be something wrong or mixed up. AHHHHHGGG!

So, that is another story for another day! I really want to talk about my master bathroom grout. If you remember my post about design options, we chose gray grout. I did subway tile in the shower with octagon and dot on the shower floor as well as the bathroom floor. I guess I like to complicate things because I wanted two different grout colors. One color in the shower, and another on the floor. I saw how Courtney over at Golden Boys and Me did her bathroom. She was so sweet to answer all my questions about her grout color. She did a lighter gray in the shower and a shade darker on the bathroom floor. I thought it looked wonderful. I decided I wanted the same.

Now, fast forward to the tile install. I am looking at it all installed before the grout, and I freak out. I start thinking maybe the darker on the floor will look TOO dark compared to the shower. I go back and start looking at all the research and pictures I had saved from when I first looked into grout options. I even went to get a sample of each color grout and mixed them side by side. I spent countless nights looking at Pinterest. I was torn if I was making the right decision. I mean come one, I am going to live with this for a while. In the end, I decided to trust my original decision and go for the two tone grout in that bathroom.

The day after the tile was grouted, I anxiously arrived at the house. I ran up the stairs and stared at it down for a good 5 minutes. IT WAS PERFECT! There is such a subtle difference. Exactly what I wanted. The shower grout is Mapei “Warm Gray” and the  bathroom floor is Mapei “Silver”.  You can see in the pictures the small color difference. You really have to get close to notice. I think the darker floor grout will hide the high traffic so much better than the lighter. I couldn’t be happier. The tile guy, (Dustin Jones) at DJ Customs Tile and Stone , have been wonderful to work with! I just love the attention to detail they have given our home. He has answered all my concerns and my crazy reminder notes I leave for him taped to the tile. 🙂

I think the master bathroom will be one of my favorite spots in the house. I really love how the shower has turned out. I feel like I pretty much live there already (from checking in on progress so much). Our neighbors are wonderful and it has been so fun getting to know the area. The exterior should be painted next week. That will be so amazing to see. You know another house update will be coming….:)

Here is a sneak peek at the countertops in the master. I wish you could see all the detail in them. This picture does not do them justice. Small veins of gray are throughout the quartz. Looks like a marble.
